The photo of the Torpedo Kid 999 lined up against other cars is hilarious.
He invested 10,000 dollars in the project in 1902 which would be 326,000 according to several inflation algorithms. I’ve been 115 mph on a motorcycle and I buried the needle on gramps 1972 Ford Thunderbird with a 429 cubic inch beast at 140 mph against my cousin’s 1972 Monte Carlo. We were on a 2 mile straight away in a very rural area with maybe one car an hour at night
