TIL American radiochemist Dawn Shaughnessy is responsible for the discovery of many elements on the periodic table. Her team at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory discovered superheavy elements with atomic numbers 114 to 118.

She looks like one of them smart people. She’s got the lab coat and gloves and everything.
114-116 and then 118, perhaps. The discovery/synthesis of element 117 (tennessine) was a joint effort led by Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia (though of course LLNR contributed research).
