TIL in school I read about Nellie Bly, a female journalist in the late 1800s who got herself committed to an insane asylum to report on the conditions. She also once jumped off a ferry so she could report on the efficiency of the rescue crew!

I’m thinking the only person who could possibly play her in a movie is Eva Green… maybe Emily Blunt… But only maybe.

In the 1980s I had a, probably called a mid-grade book now, book on my shelf about Nelly Bly. Wasn’t strange or progressive, just a dedicated woman investigating wrongdoing. She was presented to me as a heroic figure.
