TIL John Carlos and Tommie Smith were American medalists in the 1968 Olympic 200m sprint. During the National Anthem they both raised their fist in protest of racism and were subsequently suspended from the Games for politicizing.

The Silver Medal Winner [Peter Norman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Norman) wore a badge in solidarity and also received backlash.
Tommie Smith and John Carlos were pallbearers at [Peter Norman’s funeral](https://www.smh.com.au/sport/norman-mortally-wounded–by-protest-us-runner-20120821-24ji6.html).
The story of Peter Norman, the Australian athlete who stood with them and wore a badge of solidarity, is also interesting. He was basically ostracised back in Australia.

Need to do the same thing today, remove them from the team and send them home if they politicize. You are there for a reason, and personal opinions/viewpoints is not one of them.
