“On the previous day [8 Jan 1493], when the Admiral went to the Rio del Oro [Haiti], he said he quite distinctly saw three mermaids, which rose well out of the sea; but they are not so beautiful as they are said to be, for their faces had some masculine traits.”
-Remarks about mermaids by Christopher Columbus
Do women rank second or is there some other major threat?
Kinda playing it fast and loose with the words “natural” and “predator”
Just like man
Seems pretty obvious to me with how many have been hit by boats
Which man tho
“Predator” doesn’t sound like the right description though. I’m sure more manatees are killed by alligators than are hunted by humans. Many manatees die in accidents due to colliding with civilization, but they aren’t being ‘preyed’ upon.
Threat, yes. Predator? Not so much.
Surprise, just like every other living and non-living thing on earth or better said, in our solar system
