Every culture in the world has folklore about wild men living on the periphery of society. When you look at native American stories of wild men, they really don’t have much in common with the modern idea of Bigfoot at all. Bigfoot is almost completely a modern invention with old folklore twisted or misinterpreted to adhere to the modern standard.
People who lived in the dark had stories about shit in the dark? Who knew. I can’t imagine how the world was viewed when night was so powerful.
Wow, almost like the earth was populated everywhere with hominids and they only got eliminated as humans took over the land and replaced them.
First time I saw footage of a bear walking on its hind legs in the dark, Bigfoot died for me. Cool idea but no, someone would have found a corpse, spoor, or found one rooting through their trash can. Turns out people who live near dark woods invent stories about things in those woods. That’s just how people are.
I’m not shocked. Stories move like the game telephone. Especially legends or crytids
