TIL that an Italian man faked his own kidnapping in Syria in 2016 to get ransom money from Italian government but he was kidnapped for REAL and was released 3 years later after his kidnapping and after returning to his country, he was charged with fraud.

It’s the real life version of the boy who cried wolf.
But since he never collected any money, wouldn’t this be attempted fraud, or something noting that crime wasn’t followed through
This article came out on April 1st.
