TIL that the first human death by a Southern Cassowary was in Australia in 1926, when the bird defeated two brothers who were trying to hunt it. The older brother was killed via his jugular vein being cut, and the younger brother was scared off after being knocked over.

Couldn’t have left the bird alone, it was doing no harm to them, no they had to attack it for no reason.
I can’t prove that a Southern Cassowary killed a human before 1926, but humans have lived in Australia for more than 60,000 years. First death somebody bothered to write about sounds likelier.
It sent a strong message
If Far Cry 3 was around back then, they would’ve know to leave it alone.
