TIL the song “Ireland’s Call” was commissioned in 1995 to be used as the anthem for Ireland’s national rugby team since the team consists of Republican and Northern Irish players who are technically from two different countries.

  1. I remember John Inverdale on the BBC coverage once slagging off Ireland before a match because we sing the 2 songs at home matches and Keith Wood (former Irish player) putting him in his place.

    John: “And here come Ireland now with all their songs”.

    Keith Wood : “And who’s fault is that John?!”
