Yeah, usually these last a year before someone takes them. The shrine of toys, flowers, pictures and memories last for years until they are full deteriorated.
Really reminds you how dangerous it is to be a cyclist.
Probably a half-dozen of these within a couple miles of me. Some have been there at least 10yrs.
In some places they do the same with motorcycle helmets too.

This is weird because I saw one today for the first time .
Never knew. Nice idea but don’t cities take them away at some point? I can see cities immediately drafting up an ordinance that bans this or limits the time the bike remains…because, you know, city governments have solved every other problem.

Sometimes ghost bike installation coincides with a ghost ride or ride in silence event, where cyclists ride together to honor the fallen.
