TIL about Jim Thorpe(May 22/28, 1887–March 28, 1953) The 1st Native American to win a gold medal for the US in the Olympics. Considered 1 of the most versatile athletes of modern sports. He was the 1st president of the APFA, which became the NFL in 1922. He died penniless of heart failure at age 65.

There’s a cool old mining town named after him in PA, near the Poconos. I highly recommend checking it out.
