TIL about Puffery, which is ‘exaggerated or false praise’. Legally speaking, puffery is not enforceable for legal liability, usually because of the argument that “no reasonable person would take it seriously anyway.”

  1. If that sounds absurd, remember the rule originated in England a long time ago, where you assumed people to have a certain minimum of common sense. Way before the several recent US presidential elections totally disproved the premise
