TIL about the great California flood of 1861/62 when it rained continuously for 43 days, which was caused due to a phenomenon called Atmospheric rivers, creating a 300 mile long temporary sea. Sacramento was covered in 10 feet of debris filled water, and even telegraph poles were under water.
