TIL about the great California flood of 1861/62 when it rained continuously for 43 days, which was caused due to a phenomenon called Atmospheric rivers, creating a 300 mile long temporary sea. Sacramento was covered in 10 feet of debris filled water, and even telegraph poles were under water.

Before dams and agriculture the Central Valley of California would flood and become a sea pretty regularly

Imagine if that happened today with all the homeless people in California? That would be a human tragedy like we’ve rarely seen. Smdh
