TIL about the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, an intertwined series of conflicts that took place between 1639 and 1653 in the Kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland – separate kingdoms which had the same king, Charles I.

1. Any time I see Three Kingdoms I always assume the Three Kingdom period in China from about 1300 years earlier. This is the first context I’ve ever seen of any three kingdom wars referring to something other than that region and time. neat
