TIL Between 1854 and 1929, an estimated 250,000 orphaned, abandoned, or homeless children were transported to rural communities by train across the country in hopes of providing a better life for them. These would become known as the “Orphan Trains”.

    So many of the posts on Reddit assume everyone knows the location they are referring to. It’s a big world and this is a global forum.

  2. There’s a lot of stories coming out of England for these kind of things happening with transport to Canada and Australia as well.
    Wasn’t the industrial revolution grand?
