TIL Brian Wilson was obsessed with The Ronettes’ “Be My Baby.” He had copies of it all over his house, compared it to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, and called it the best song ever recorded. He wrote “Don’t Worry Baby” for Ronnie Spector, but Phil (who was aware of the obsession) rejected it.

Brian Wilson was so obsessed with achieving a similar sound that it eventually inspired the creation of Pet Sounds.
That song did totally revolutionize music production in ways we definitely still see today. AFAIK it was the first song to ever use the wall of sound (invented by Specter). That’s still used in plenty of mainstream music today. So Brian Wilson was kinda right.
Alway though that song sounded familiar to be my baby. Very interesting.
