Probably because they’re obligate carnivores, and being able to prefer sweet fruits their bodies can’t use would be an evolutionary disadvantage.
Because cats are a bunch of salty bitches. We’ve known this forever since the days of the pharaohs, but we love them anyway.

My cat loves to lick strawberries, cherries and grapes. I stopped giving them to him because cavities and because grapes and cherries are toxic to cats.
I assumed that they had the texture of flesh to him.
