TIL EMTs and Ambulances are not considered essential services in 39 US states. The Federal Government also does not recognize them as an essential service and therefore they do not receive federal funding.

  1. Where I live (NSW, Australia) you get a bill for about $500 if you use an ambulance unless you are below a certain income threshold. It comes as a shock to a lot of people because we are so used to healthcare being free or close enough to it.
