TIL falcons are more closely related to parrots than to hawks, eagles, and owls. The similarity in appearance is caused by convergent evolution rather than family history.

As a twin, I love seeing studies on convergent evolution. Coming up with the same answer to the same obstacle but in a different way describes my relationship with my twin to a “T.” I also suspect that any alien creatures that are self replicating living organisms would evolve similarly to what happened on earth.
