  1. The headline is kind of like saying “it is possible for people to naturally gain 30 pounds of muscle in six weeks…”

Some people can do it. Sometimes. With a ton of effort and usually with chemical assistance.

The article makes it sound much easier and much more common than it actually is. Hormone therapy and other medications are usually necessary, and it takes months of effort to force the body into lactation by pumping every 2-3 hours during the day and at least once overnight.

Many people who attempt to induce lactation without pregnancy are not able to produce milk at all, and the majority who produce *some* milk through induced lactation are not able to produce enough to exclusively breastfeed a baby. People should certainly pursue it if they feel it is important, but unrealistic expectations aren’t helpful.

    Possible, maybe. Natural… Sort of?

Here is a more realistic take on the process from the Mayo Clinic:

  2. > It is not necessary to be fertile—or even to have ovaries or a uterus—to breastfeed.

But being born a biological female is KINDA gonna be needed

If you drop the naming and pronouns and identities – if you were born a male (if on your birth certificate dr said “it’s a BOY!”) it’s going to be a no.
