[Disposable per capita income](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disposable_household_and_per_capita_income) is probably a better way to measure prosperity, because it really comes down to how much money you have left after paying for expenses
Could be interesting to see by median and not averages.
In reality though, if you strip out the little European tax-haven principalities with tiny populations, Ireland whose GDP is massively distorted by US multinational companies and airplane leasing, the USA is more like 5th richest country after Qatar (oil and gas rich), Switzerland, Norway (oil rich) and UAE.
Higher cost of living than some countries.
But none of the calculations of average wealth or wages accounts for income disparities.
More like 11th. Four of those are just territories.
