TIL House cats in the British Isles are unrelated to the cats in Europe. The British cats are descended from the African wildcat, not the European wildcat.

  1. There are still some native European cats on the Isles, they are the Scottish Wildcats and appearantly got trapped on the British Isles following the last ice age.
