TIL in 1975, wildlife experts tried to cross-foster endangered Whooping cranes with the abundant Sandhill cranes. The fostering went so well that all 85 whooping crane chicks imprinted on their sandhill crane foster parents but were unable to recognize and mate with other whooping cranes.
