TIL: In 1999 while Stephen King walking on the side of a road in North Lovell, he was hit by a van that left him in a ditch with broken bones, ribs, a punctured lung, and he almost died. After he healed he bought the van that almost killed him, and the driver died on kings birthday one year later.

ALSO, he bought the van so fans couldn’t have it as a souvenir. He also still wears the lens that he was wearing on the day he was hit as a memento. This story can be found in part of the Dark Tower series he wrote, where he adds in the entire story as part of the books plot.
