TIL in 2008, a mass riot occurred in Democratic Republic of the Congo after a football goalkeeper was accused of using “witchcraft” to win the game. After the police showed up, 13 people died in a stampede.

I don’t believe in witchcraft and I don’t think that it works if you don’t believe in it.
To this day nobody has concrete proof that he didn’t perform witchcraft.
I think witchcraft was rigorously tested for after that and some footballers can’t get into the hall of fame now.
