TIL in 2012 a librarian at a high school in Tupelo Mississippi discovered a library card in the back of an old book signed in 1948 by a then 13 year old Elvis Presley. It is the oldest known autograph by Elvis.

I grew up in Tupelo. Tupelo, MS is where Elvis was born so there’s a WHOLE LOT of Elvis stuff there. And for the most part, no one cares. We have his home that he grew up in, which is available to tour, which brings in about $100,000.00 per year. It costs about $90,000.00 to maintain. It profits about as much as your nephew’s lawn mowing business.
For a couple of years there was a restaurant near his birthplace selling peanut butter & banana sandwiches because apparently Elvis loved them. It lasted two years and shut down.
