TIL John Carlos and Tommie Smith were American medalists in the 1968 Olympic 200m sprint. During the National Anthem they both raised their fist in protest of racism and were subsequently suspended from the Games for politicizing.

  1. They were supposed to raise their right fist, but, because one of them misplaced his gloves, one raised his right fist while the other raised his left fist.

  2. Need to do the same thing today, remove them from the team and send them home if they politicize. You are there for a reason, and personal opinions/viewpoints is not one of them.
