TIL Lee Marvin was not only devilishly handsome and a badass in the movies but also in real life. Marvin joined the illustrious US Marine Corps at age 18 and fought in WW2 at the battle of Saipan, being hit by machine gun fire and a snipers bullet as well.

  1. The US military has really been dumping the subtle propaganda lately huh? The “Illustrious” marine core? That one fact about how United everyone was in the “war against tyranny” for WW2? And before anyone asks, the Germans were tyrannical, but the other side was the US and the Russians, who also are both tyrannical

  2. Agreed. For additional awe ,look up Christopher Lee’s biography. I recall when an interviewer asked about his military history, he replied, “Can you keep a secret?” . Interviewer: “yes”. Lee: “So can I.”

  3. Lee Marvin was a good actor, but I don’t think he deserves any praise for killing people overseas. Seriously, joining the military without being forced to is pretty disgusting.
