TIL Leicester physics graduates concluded that Star Trek’s tribbles would fill the USS Enterprise in 4.5 days. Using Spock’s estimate that each tribble can birth 10 offspring in 12 hrs. amounting to 1,777,561 tribbles in 3 days they added an exponential growth rate of 18.4×109 tribbles.

I guess I’m going to have to read the article to find out how they knew the volume of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
That’s probably only if you feed them constantly. As Dr. McCoy discovered, if they are not fed, they do not reproduce.
