Nigeria has a population of 209 million, Ireland of about 5 million. There’s a heck of a lot of people drinking a heck of a lot of beer in Ireland.
If you’re in the US and drink beer, you owe it to yourself to try Guinness Foreign Extra (not Extra Stout).
My favorite beer even though I don’t care for Guinness otherwise.
As a measure of raw number of consumers or proportion? The article doesn’t provide that data. It just says “more than” so I’m inclined to think it’s just using market capitalization. Which is still interesting, didn’t know Africans enjoyed Guinness so much. But yeah, Ireland is not a populous place. I would still wonder if Guinness is Ireland’s most popular beer, and if it is more popular among the Irish than it is among populations of other countries.
Nigerians, a great bunch of lads
Lagos had the first Guiness Brewery outside of the U.K.
It’s higher alcohol content too
