TIL of an 1830 attempt to steal George Washington’s skull from his tomb at Mount Vernon. It failed and prompted the construction of a new, more secure, burial vault which his remains reside in today.

they had to bury lincoln in a cement and rebar filled tomb after a few attempts to steal his body
