TIL Of the 10 deadliest famines in recorded history, 5 took place in India. 3 of those Indian famines took place within a 24 year period (1769-1793), though in different regions.

And another one of those famines in India was made far deadlier by the English forcing bengal to export grain at gunpoint, even as millions starved.
The English did it as well during the Irish Famine
