I was the tiniest bit disappointed that this wasn’t mentioned in the recent Skull Island movie.
Key word is “unclaimed”. Are there any unclaimed islands left on Earth at this point?

I’m pretty sure many US citizens have more batshit than they need, and far more than the rest of us want.
This is how we combat China’s expansion in the South China Sea. Build our own artificial islands and dump bat shit on them.
Guano is exceptional fertilizer and thus very valuable, hence the interest.
