TIL of the McCarthy Massacre, when Louis Hastings intended to cut off the isolated village of McCarthy, Alaska, kill all the residents, dump the bodies on a glacier and destroy a part of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. He killed six of the 22 residents before being being arrested.
