TIL on 13th October 1908 Travers Symons escaped from her escort in the Houses of Parliament, burst into the main chamber, interrupted a debate by shouting, & thus became the first woman to speak in the House of Commons. She couldn’t be arrested, the police having no power in the Houses of Parliament
