  1. Pica, a condition known since roman times, of people eating things that is not food. Named after the behavior of Pica Pica, or the Magpie.

    Mainly three groupings, pregnant woman, anemic pubertal girls, and people with learning disabilities. First two thought to be related to minerals and metal, iron in particular. The latter in corrolation to self stimulation in a barren enviroment, and also social reinforcement.

    Do not search the type of pica named autocoprophagia.
