Combs was a fine host, but the network bought way too much into Family Feud fever. There was an hour and a half of Family Feud content airing daily 5 days a week and people inevitably got tired of it. It also adds insult to injury by replacing the new guy with the old guy, and Combs most likely took it personally, because how else would you take that? Although the Family Feud debacle probably wasn’t the definitive reason he killed himself, it was almost certainly the biggest catalyst. Rest in peace. Ray Combs had a lot of issues in his life that led him to commit suicide. Log in to Reply I thought he committed suicide a couple years later. Sad Log in to Reply Ray Combs killed himself *four years after* they fired him. He had massive financial problems. Log in to Reply Ray Combs was the best FF host Log in to Reply [Dawson’s run was from 1978 to 1985.](https://www.closerweekly.com/posts/heres-what-happened-to-family-feud-host-richard-dawson/) He won an emmy for the best game show host. Log in to Reply He was the best host. I always thought he got sick and was dying, which is why he killed himself. Nobody could yell “SURVEY SAID!” better than him. Log in to Reply Comedians often have low self-esteem and suffer from depression. I wonder if that contributed to his mental state and his eventual suicide. Sad story. I liked him as the host of Family Feud. Log in to Reply Cool Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
