TIL Sweden’s moose population is so big that they are considered to be a pest animal among many, with even some periods having hunters shoot the equivalent of the total moose population of Alaska annually just to keep the population in check.

  1. As usually with the guardian. It’s technically kinda correct,. But they’ve worded it very very odd.

    Yes. we do hunt moose every year to keep the population down. But I’ve never in 40 years heard anybody describe them as pest.

  2. Hate to be “that guy” but the Eurasian “moose” is usually called elk. Got a minus from my english teacher once for this, so now I make the rest of you suffer too.
