  1. I’d like to see a study that includes the income levels and basic sociological similarities between these genetically linked addicted people too.

    If mom was an alcoholic because she was poor and overworked, and you are poor and overworked and also an alcoholic… Is it a genetic condition?

  2. I was able to quit drinking after 20 years cold turkey and without a support group, had 0 physical addiction. My issue was and still is impulse control and being stuck in the habit. I’d impulsively drink and then that would never allow the habit to be broken.

    My dad and grandpa were alcoholics too though. Now, was the habit easier to pick up because I saw them drinking a lot in my formative years? Or was it really genetic? Or was the genetic part just the impulse control because of some weird thing with dopamine? Hopefully we’ll truly know in the future.
