TIL that an intern at Microsoft made the popular game solitaire back in 1988. There were few computer games available at the time. Bill Gates approved Solitary, therefore it became a part of the Windows operating system.

I read somewhere that Solitary and Minesweeper exist to train the PC user about double clicking, click and drag and right click.

one time after completing the game it said i played a perfect game didn’t know that was a thing and it never has happened again
To note: Solitaire existed offline prior to this but Gates’ crew digitised it.

There were few computer games available at the time??? There were literally thousands of computer games made between 1977 and 1988.
I had hundreds and hundreds of games for early 8-bit computers and for the PC in DOS before Windows came out.
The author of that article was oblivious.
