TIL that Andrew Wood, lead singer for grunge band Mother Love Bone, died before reaching stardom. Upon his death, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and his friend Eddie Vedder collaborated with the band and created the album Temple of the Dog. Vedder then stayed with the band and created Pearl Jam.

  1. Dude this is not even the correct story.
    Cornell wrote that whole record. Asked the dudes from MLB to record them. They were just starting Pearl Jam. The way I understand it Eddie just ended up on that record by accident.

  2. Not strictly true. Vedder had just joined what would become Pearl jam and was asked to sing on one track. TOTD would have happened with or without him.
