TIL that Angela Lansbury was hesitant to sing the titular track from Beauty and the Beast because she wasn’t used to singing slower ballads and she was worried her aging voice would be noticeable. The filmmakers convinced her to sing the song and she nailed it on her first take.

Her aging voice was noticeable, in a good way, it suited the piece. She was a terrific singer, aside from all that.
Her aging voice is one of the main reasons it is such an iconic song at all. Had it been some young singer the impact wouldn’t have been as strong or long lasting.
