TIL that before ‘free mobile phone roaming’ was introduced across the European Union, residents and tourists around Dover, on the southeast coast of England, were regularly get charged international roaming fees for using French network due to poor network coverage on the English side of the channel

And thanks to brexit, roaming charges are back. But presumably we’ve taken back control 👍
Same in the US/CANADA border regions. It was expensive as fuck.
