TIL that during the American Civil War, the Union regularly cracked the Confederacy’s coded messages because the Confederacy relied on a limited number of key phrases for encrypting their messages, one of which was “Complete Victory”.

Sounds like a similar sort of thing that helped the Allies crack the Enigma code- the nazis always ended messages with Heil Hitler. Made it easier to crack the code.

I’m starting to think that in the not-so-distant future, it’ll be renamed as American Civil War I. The ideological division in this country seems to be worsening greatly as of late.
