TIL that evolution has brought a flightless bird back from extinction through a process called iterative evolution.The Aldabra rail was wiped out 136K years ago by a major flood, but its relative, the white-throated rail, repopulated Aldabra Island 20K years ago and re-evolved into the lost species.
