TIL that Florida has almost 8,500 miles of shoreline, which if made into a straight line would be more than 1/3 the circumference of Earth.

Get your fractals straight, Florida’s shoreline is much longer.
Florida is so damn long. Driving from Miami to Atlanta takes almost as long as driving from Atlanta to Chicago, about an hour difference.
But it’s not laid out straight. Is it? IS IT?!
Has 8500 miles of coast line plus and additional 22k and change of lakeshore for a grand total of 30500 miles of shoreline.
Edit* forgot to say Mn has more at 45k miles.
Alaska enters the room.
And fills it.
Entirely.

That is measured using a pretty dubious method. Using a more traditional method FL has 1,350 mi (2,170 km) of coastline.
I’m just going to go ahead and throw the bullshit flag, 15 yards, repeat 2nd down.
Wow, I wonder how much of the circumference of the earth would be taking up with Alaska’s shoreline?
Still only second most among the states.
Shoreline is impossible to measure
Michigan is the big surprise. Almost as much as California.
