TIL that Gandhara is a historical region in today’s Pakistan that was a Buddhist crossroads. In ancient times that region was influenced by Persians and Greeks due to Alexander the Great, the Mauryas and Indo-Greek Kingdom and became an ancient center of Buddhism.

So, it was majority Muslim at the time of partition with India?
Gandhari from Mahabharatha was from here, Today’s Kandhahar is corruption of the word Gandhara.
