TIL that in 1996 Philadelphia TV station WPVI changed it’s news theme for the first time since 1972. The viewer feedback was so negative that the station reverted back to the original 1972 theme after only 3 days. The station continues to use the 1972 theme today.

  1. Yeah, grew up on Action News and that theme. “The Delaware Valley’s Leading News Program” was the tagline. Somehow people love sameness and comfort in a world changing so drastically. Totally agree with that decision to keep it.
