TIL that in 2013, police in Sayre, OK were testing new sonar equipment in Foss Lake. They found two submerged cars containing 3 bodies each that had been missing since 1969 & 1970. Police later concluded all were accidental drownings w/ no foul play.

I leaned about this recently from a friend that lives near OKC. Apparently police said the area was accident prone because the road abruptly ended at a boat launch. They think both cars accidentally drove straight down the boat landing into the lake. Some family members were skeptical.
