TIL that in the USSR, when foreign music was banned, bootleg records were made on old x-rays pulled from medical trash. These were called “ribs” and “bone records”.

The center circles were made by burning it with a cigarette and they were crudely hand cut around the edges.
I just bought a bone record of Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire for my dad for Christmas. He’s not going to have a clue what I’m handing him.
I also got myself The Doors’ Five to One because I can’t not have one too!
